Concetti: Perfect packaging for pet food
Pet food is no longer just animal feed, it is no small feat, and Concetti is the company that delivers tailored solutions engineered to keep pace with the industry’s ever-evolving demands
Pet food is no longer just animal feed: it’s a product owners hold to the same standards of quality, safety, and care as their own food. Translating that shift into packaging that delivers freshness, safety, and versatility — without sacrificing throughput — is no small feat. Concetti, an Italian company with over 50 years of experience designing packaging and palletizing systems, delivers tailored solutions engineered to keep pace with the industry’s ever-evolving demands.
Integrated solutions for efficient packaging
Concetti offers a complete range of lines for weighing, filling, and palletizing dry pet food. The IPF is an automatic bagging machine built for small formats, handling weights from 100 grams to 5 kilograms — ideal for compact, high-turnover packs. For higher-output needs, the IMF Ālĕs is the machine of choice: this new high-speed linear bagger handles bags from 3 to 20 kilograms, reaching throughput of up to 2,000 bags per hour. Rounding out the range, the IGF bagging line handles bags from 2 to 50 kilograms, with throughput of up to 1,200 bags per hour. All three deliver automatic bag-size changeover in about a minute. These systems run paper, mono-material plastic, and multi-layer laminate packaging, integrating easy-open features and hermetic seals to lock in freshness and protect the product.
Lampo and palletizing for complete lines
Concetti also delivers a range of palletizing solutions for bags, bundles, and case-packed bags. Depending on the throughput required, different configurations are available. The Lampo robotic palletizer with compaction unit offers speeds of up to 2,000 bags per hour, gripper flexibility, and load stability — even with partially filled bags. The time-tested 4-Column palletizer, meanwhile, delivers squared layers with neatly overlapped bag flaps at medium throughput. For full, compact bags, the push-type palletizer also runs at medium speed, with stable loads and well-defined geometries that reduce the risk of product damage in transit and storage. The goal: uniform, standardized loads — essential for automated pallet shuttle systems — while cutting repetitive manual handling and the injury risk that comes with it. Every solution features PLC-assisted automatic changeover, making it easy to switch between formats or layer patterns.
Tailored devices
The growing tendency to treat pets as family members is pushing the category upmarket: e-commerce growth and increasingly specific consumer expectations mean machinery must be engineered to adapt fast to new requirements. In recent years, Concetti has invested heavily in integrating solutions and devices that let its systems respond quickly to every new market need. This engineering capability — integrating devices and technical solutions without compromising machine throughput — makes it possible to manage a wide range of needs on a single line: bags in different materials and shapes, easy-open features, zippers, hook-and-loop closures, handles, labeling, printing, in-bag gadget insertion, and many other tailored solutions. To cite two recent examples: Concetti has developed an innovative opening system for pre-formed open-mouth bags with a pressure closure (Velcro-type) that ensures trouble-free filling. Another device preserves seal quality and alignment, straightening the bag before closing, for packaging that communicates quality and premium branding — with zero errors.
