Grande soddisfazione da parte delle 281 aziende espositrici, che hanno esposto il meglio di un settore con un fatturato annuo di quasi 3 miliardi di euro
Il 28 febbraio Iberzoo Propet 2025, Fiera Internazionale dell’Industria degli Animali da Compagnia, ha chiuso la sua ottava edizione, la sedicesima nel caso di Propet, con una partecipazione record. Un totale di 21.612 professionisti del settore degli animali domestici ha visitato la fiera per vedere le ultime innovazioni presentate dalle 281 aziende (+33% rispetto all’edizione precedente del 2024) tra cui 213 aziende spagnole (+25%) e 68 aziende straniere (+71%) provenienti da 12 Paesi. Il padiglione 10 di IFEMA MADRID, con una superficie espositiva lorda di 22.000 m² e una superficie netta di 9.855,5 m² (+14%), ha ospitato questa grande offerta e un ampio programma di seminari iniziato il 26 febbraio.
Iberzoo Propet 2025 è in linea con gli obiettivi della Direzione Generale per i Diritti degli Animali – parte del Ministero dei Diritti Sociali, dei Consumatori e dell’Agenda 2030 – che ha avuto una presenza attiva in fiera promuovendo la protezione e il benessere degli animali.
Il successo di questa edizione è stato possibile grazie al rinnovato sostegno dell’Associazione dei Veterinari per Animali da Compagnia di Madrid (AMVAC) e dell’Associazione Spagnola dei Distributori di Prodotti per Animali da Compagnia (AEDPAC) – promotori dell’evento – e degli altri stakeholder del settore: Associazione Spagnola dei Veterinari Clinici (AEVET), Associazione Nazionale dei Produttori di Alimenti per Animali da Compagnia (ANFAAC), Confederazione Spagnola delle Imprese Veterinarie (CEVE), Fondazione VET+i e l’Associazione Spagnola dei Datori di Lavoro dell’Industria della Salute e della Nutrizione Animale (VETERINDUSTRIA).
Iberzoo Propet 2025 ha mostrato ancora una volta il profilo più innovativo di un’industria composta da 10.188 aziende e 7.021 cliniche, che lo scorso anno ha fatturato 2,863 miliardi di euro, con un aumento del 9,2% rispetto al 2023, e che ha creato 44.500 posti di lavoro diretti. Un settore che serve i 15 milioni di cani e gatti in Spagna.
A questo proposito, è importante sottolineare la crescente importanza degli animali domestici in Spagna, che è strettamente allineata con la consapevolezza di questo tema osservata nel paese confinante, il Portogallo. Infatti, secondo lo studio TGM Research, 2023, il 72% dei portoghesi ha almeno un animale domestico. Anche l’importanza del mercato portoghese per l’industria nazionale è importante. Per questo motivo Iberzoo Propet ha invitato il suo primo Paese ospite in assoluto: il Portogallo.
Analisi del settore
Queste circostanze sono state riportate nei report presentati il 27 febbraio durante il “Pomeriggio del Settore”, da AMVAC, con le anticipazioni del Rapporto del Settore, e da AEDPAC, con il suo “Barometro delle Tendenze e delle Abitudini dei Genitori di Animali Domestici in Spagna e Portogallo”.
Entrambe le organizzazioni hanno colto l’opportunità per tenere i rispettivi meeting professionali. Il 42° VetMadrid Congress, organizzato da AMVAC, con focus sulla “Medicina e Chirurgia del Sistema Locomotorio e Sistema Nervoso”, e ha visto la partecipazione di 2.539 professionisti.
“Il congresso ha ospitato oltre 2.300 veterinari, con attività che si sono svolte in nove sale nel corso dei tre giorni di fiera, con conferenze di 30 relatori rinomati nelle loro specialità”, ha dichiarato Víctor Fernández, presidente dell’AMVAC e del Comitato Organizzativo di VetMadrid, aggiungendo che “come nelle precedenti edizioni, anche quest’anno sono stati invitati assistenti clinici ed enti di protezione degli animali”. AMVAC ha annunciato che l’edizione 2026 sarà concentrata sulla Medicina e la Chirurgia del Sistema Cardio-Respiratorio.
Nel frattempo, l’AEDPAC ha organizzato il “Forum dell’Industria e del Commercio nel settore degli animali da compagnia in Spagna”, durante il quale sono stati affrontati temi importanti come se la Spagna fosse un Paese “pet-friendly”; un’analisi delle tendenze globali che influenzano lo sviluppo del mercato internazionale degli animali da compagnia; le nuove diete per gli animali da compagnia; l’importanza delle politiche di CSR per i marchi del settore; l’impatto della legge sui farmaci sullo sviluppo del settore veterinario, ecc.
“Questa settima edizione consolida il Forum come evento di riferimento dove discutere, dibattere e analizzare lo stato attuale del settore professionale del commercio, dell’industria e dell’imprenditoria nel settore della cura degli animali da compagnia nel nostro Paese”, ha dichiarato Ignasi Solana, commissario dell’evento e Segretario Generale dell’AEDPAC. Inoltre, ha aggiunto che si tratta di “un posto dove creare contenuti di valore e rilevare le tendenze di questo mercato dinamico attraverso gli approfondimenti di esperti, personalità e specialisti leader in ogni settore”.
Più di 500 professionisti hanno partecipato al Forum, a diverse tavole rotonde e presentazioni tenute da 31 relatori durante i tre giorni di Iberzoo Propet 2025. Altre attività programmate da Iberzoo Propet 2025 sono state le presentazioni scientifiche degli espositori nell’Aula Veterinaria e le dimostrazioni di toelettatura per cani da parte di aziende come Artero, tra le altre. Sono state inoltre organizzate conferenze con consigli su come gestire un’attività nel settore degli animali da compagnia, su come ottenere un’attività redditizia, ecc.
Il momento culminante è stata la Serata Settoriale del 27 febbraio. Dopo la presentazione delle relazioni AMVAC e AEDPAC, sono stati consegnati i Premi Antón e Impulso come riconoscimento del settore.
La quarta edizione dei Antón Awards, il riconoscimento per la Carriera Professionale in ambito veterinario, è andato al veterinario clinico José Luis Puchol. Il premio per la Carriera Professionale nel Settore Professionale è stato dato a Gemma Vivet, CEO di Grup Gepork/Centauro; il Premio per il Miglior Rivenditore in Spagna è stato consegnato a Tumascota di Pamplona; il premio per la Carriera nella Responsabilità Sociale d’Impresa è stato assegnato a Isabel Buis, Direttore della Affinity Foundation; il premio per la Carriera Professionale nel Campo della Protezione degli Animali è stato assegnato all’Associazione Veterinaria di Valencia in seguito all’impatto del DANA (un evento meteorologico estremo che ha causato una devastante alluvione); e il premio per l’Iniziativa che Favorisce la Convivenza con gli Animali Domestici in Città è andato all’azienda Pipper on Tour.
Per quanto riguarda gli Impulso Awards, che premiano imprenditori e startup del settore pet, la società UVEMA Servicios Veterinarios è stata premiata per il suo innovativo servizio di telemedicina veterinaria di emergenza, che offre assistenza telefonica permanente ovunque.
Dopo il successo di questa edizione di Iberzoo Propet 2025, IFEMA MADRID inizierà a lavorare alla nona edizione, che si terrà al Recinto Ferial di Madrid dall’11 al 13 marzo 2026.

Record participation at Iberzoo Propet 2025
Great satisfaction from the 281 exhibiting companies, which showcased the best of a sector with annual revenue of almost 3 billion euros
Iberzoo Propet 2025, Pet Industry International Trade Fair, concluded its eighth edition on 28 February, the 16th in the case of Propet, with record participation. A total of 21,612 pet sector professionals visited the exhibition to see the latest innovations from 281 companies (33% more than at the previous event in 2024), comprising 213 Spanishcompanies (up 25%) and 68 foreign companies (up 71%) from 12 countries. Hall 10 at IFEMA MADRID, with a gross exhibition area of 22,000 m² and a net area of 9,855.5 m² (up 14%), hosted this offering and an extensive programme of seminars that started on 26 February.
Iberzoo Propet 2025 aligns with the objectives of the Directorate General for Animal Rights—part of the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs, and the 2030 Agenda, which had an active presence at the fair promoting animal protection and welfare.
The success of the event was made possible by the renewed support of the Madrid Association of Pet Veterinarians (AMVAC) and the Spanish Association of Pet Product Distributors (AEDPAC)—the bodies promoting the event—as well as the other sector stakeholders: the Spanish Association of Clinical Veterinarians (AEVET), the National Association of Pet Food Manufacturers (ANFAAC), the Spanish Veterinary Business Confederation (CEVE), the VET+i Foundation, and the Spanish Employers’ Association of the Animal Health and Nutrition Industry (VETERINDUSTRIA).
Iberzoo Propet 2025 once again showcased the most innovative profile of an industry made up of 10,188 companies and 7,021 clinics, which last year turned over 2.863 billion euros – an increase of 9.2% compared to 2023 – and created 44,500 direct jobs. A sector that serves the 15 million dogs and cats in Spain.
In this regard, it is important to highlight the growing importance of pets in Spain, which is closely aligned with the awareness of this matter observed in Spain’s neighbouring country, Portugal. In fact, according to the TGM Research Study, 2023, 72% of Portuguese people own at least one pet. The importance of the Portuguese market to the national industry is also notable. This was the reason behind Iberzoo Propet inviting its first-ever guest country: Portugal.
Analysis of the sector
These circumstances were captured in the reports presented on 27 February during the Afternoon of the Sector, by AMVAC, with the advance of the Sector Report, and by AEDPAC, with its “Barometer of Trends and Habits of Pet Parents in Spain and Portugal.”
Both organisations also took the opportunity to hold their respective professional meetings. The 42nd VetMadrid Congress, organised by AMVAC, focused on “Medicine and Surgery of the Locomotor System and Nervous System” and saw 2,539 registrations this year.
“The congress welcomed over 2,300 veterinarians, with activities taking place in nine rooms over the three days, featuring keynote lectures from 30 renowned speakers in their specialities”, said Víctor Fernández, president of AMVAC and the Organising Committee of VetMadrid, adding that “as in previous editions, clinical assistants and animal protection bodies were also invited this year”. AMVAC has announced that the 2026 edition will focus on Medicine and Surgery of the Cardio-Respiratory System.
Meanwhile, AEDPAC convened “The Forum of Industry and Commerce in the pet sector in Spain”, where topics such as whether Spain is a “pet-friendly” country were on the table; an analysis of global trends shaping the development of the international pet care market; new diets for companion animals; the importance of CSR policies for brands in the sector; and the impact of the Medicines Law on the development of the veterinary field, among others.
“This seventh edition solidifies the Forum as the reference event for discussing, debating, and analysing the current state of the professional sector of commerce, industry, and business in the pet care sector in our country”, said Ignasi Solana, the event’s commissioner and Secretary General of AEDPAC. He added that it was “a place to generate valuable content and detect the trends of this dynamic market through the insights of leading experts, personalities, and specialists in each field.”
The Forum was attended by over 500 professionals, who participated in several round tables discussions and presentations delivered by 31 speakers during the three days of Iberzoo Propet 2025. Other activities programmed by Iberzoo Propet 2025 were the exhibitors’ scientific presentations in the Aula Veterinaria or Veterinary Classroom and dog grooming demonstrations by firms like Artero, among others. There were also talks with advice on how to manage a pet business, how to achieve a profitable business, etc., all housed on a stage set up for the purpose.
The high point of the event was the Sector Evening on 27 February. After the presentation of AMVAC and AEDPAC’s reports on the sector, the Antón and Impulso Awards were handed out in recognition of the sector.
In the case of the fourth Antón Awards, the distinction for Professional Career in the Veterinary Field went to clinical veterinarian José Luis Puchol. The award for Professional Career in the Professional Field was won by Gemma Vivet, CEO of Grup Gepork/Centauro; the Best Retailer in Spain award was presented to Tumascota from Pamplona; the award for Career in Corporate Social Responsibility was awarded to Isabel Buis, Director of the Affinity Foundation; the award for Professional Career in the Animal Protection Field went to the Valencia Veterinary Association in the wake of the impact of the DANA (an extreme weather event that caused a devastating flooding disaster); and the award for the Initiative that Fosters Coexistence with Pets in the City went to the company Pipper on Tour.
As for the Impulso Awards, which recognise entrepreneurs and startups in the pet sector, the company UVEMA Servicios Veterinarios was rewarded for its innovative telemedicine veterinary emergency service, which offers permanent telephone assistance everywhere.
After this successful edition of the Feria Internacional para el Profesional del Animal de Compañìa (Pet Industry International Trade Fair) Iberzoo Propet 2025, IFEMA MADRID will start work on the ninth edition, which will be held on the Recinto Ferial from 11 to 13 March 2026.
