I dati del rapporto 2020 di Assalco – Zoomark (2020) lo confermano ancora una volta: gli italiani sono un popolo “pet-friendly”; nel 2019 erano presenti 60,27 milioni di animali d’affezione, confermando un rapporto di 1 a 1 tra gli animali da compagnia e la popolazione residente in Italia.
Gli animali sono oramai considerati membri effettivi della famiglia e i proprietari sono sempre più sensibili al benessere a tutto tondo dei propri amici animali, riconoscendo la necessità di fornire loro cure adeguate, a cominciare ovviamente da una dieta sana e nutriente: le famiglie pongono moltissima attenzione a quello che mettono nella ciotola dei loro pet e ritengono che sia importante scegliere per loro i migliori alimenti disponibili sul mercato. In effetti, la salute e il benessere degli animali, siano essi da compagnia o da reddito, è il risultato innanzitutto di un’alimentazione sana ed equilibrata.
L’alimentazione industriale risulta essere una scelta premiante, consigliata dalla maggioranza dei veterinari (93%), perché ritenuta di ottima qualità, bilanciata e completa. Nel 2019, il mercato dei prodotti per l’alimentazione dei cani e gatti in Italia ha sviluppato un giro d’affari di 2.078 milioni di euro per un totale di 556.424 tonnellate vendute.
