De Heus è stata fondata nel 1911 e, sebbene sia un’azienda internazionale che produce sette milioni di tonnellate di mangimi all’anno in più di 70 paesi in Europa, Asia, Medio Oriente, Africa e America Latina, è ancora un’azienda a conduzione familiare che può rintracciare le proprie radici nei Paesi Bassi. In effetti, mezzo milione di tonnellate del mangime prodotto da De Heus proviene dal mulino di Maasbracht, in Olanda, e la loro partnership con ANDRITZ la aiuta a farli funzionare.
Quando nel 2013 De Heus ha acquistato il mulino a Maasbracht è stato necessario sostituire tutto all’interno. Marcel Jeurissen, il direttore di stabilimento di questo stabilimento consolidato a Julianakanal, lo ricorda bene e rammenta che è stato un periodo stressante ed emozionante per De Heus. “L’azienda aveva appena acquistato l’impianto, ma anche così, doveva essere installato e funzionante in brevissimo tempo. L’attrezzatura era molto vecchia; è stato quindi necessario rimuovere tutto e installare nuovi sistemi elettrici e di automazione, ma le macchine ANDRITZ erano presenti. È stato così possibile installare e mettere in funzionale l’impianto nei tempi previsti, 1 aprile 2014”.
“L’industria dei mangimi è diversa da qualsiasi altra industria manifatturiera. Quando fai una macchina o un frigorifero le parti sono sempre le stesse, ma stiamo lavorando con ingredienti naturali – questi ingredienti sono diversi ogni volta che li incontri. Dobbiamo fare aggiustamenti costanti e dobbiamo fare progressi con questi ingredienti ogni giorno. Il mondo dipende da una sana fornitura di prodotti alimentari, e questo deriva da mangimi di qualità. Possiamo solo soddisfare questa crescente richiesta esplorando nuovi mercati e introducendo formule innovative che aiutano gli agricoltori a ottenere più uova da una gallina e più carne da una mucca”.
“Questa è la nostra missione: fornire soluzioni su misura per ogni tipo di agricoltore perché non ci sono due allevamenti uguali. Supponiamo che un contadino coltivi il proprio grano e che voglia utilizzare questa risorsa; De Heus crea una formula che fornisce ai suoi animali la nutrizione di cui hanno bisogno dal grano che coltiva”.
Attualmente De Heus produce oltre 700 di queste singole formule, ciascuna con capacità di circa 15 tonnellate per ora. Le loro macchine devono funzionare più a lungo con tempi di fermo inferiori per soddisfare le esigenze di ogni singola azienda agricola e azienda con animali da fattoria.
Questo è il motivo per cui le macchine ANDRITZ erano un dovere per De Heus. I motori ad alta capacità e la costruzione di qualità delle loro cubettatrici, condizionatori ed espansori hanno fornito un aumento della portata di 20 tonnellate all’ora, il che significa che De Heus potrebbe superare le capacità mantenendo un prodotto di alta qualità.
“L’esecuzione a questa capacità rende assolutamente necessaria la manutenzione regolare per prevenire un’interruzione, ma quando si verifica un’emergenza, ANDRITZ è proprio lì”. Jeurissen ha condiviso, “Un incidente si è verificato solo poche settimane fa – abbiamo avuto un cuscinetto dell’albero rotto. Questa particolare attrezzatura richiede in genere due settimane per essere consegnata, ma non abbiamo potuto aspettare così a lungo. Abbiamo chiamato ANDRITZ per una soluzione e, mentre eravamo al telefono con il loro rappresentante del servizio clienti, hanno individuato un ingegnere disponibile”. Jeurissen esclamò: “L’ingegnere ha caricato le parti nel suo veicolo e le ha portate direttamente allo stabilimento nei Paesi Bassi. Eravamo di nuovo in funzione entro 24 ore”.
Questo tipo di reattività è il motivo principale per cui De Heus ha scelto l’attrezzatura ANDRITZ. “L’attrezzatura è buona, ma il loro servizio post-vendita è il migliore del settore. Sappiamo che se abbiamo bisogno di una parte o di un ingegnere, ANDRITZ non esiterà a mandare qualcuno – non solo nei Paesi Bassi, ma dal Brasile al Vietnam”.

De Heus Animal Nutrition is a leading global supplier of nutritional products for animals and the power behind the progress of egg, meat, milk, and fish producers around the world.
De Heus was founded in 1911, and though they are an international company producing seven million tons of feed annually in more than 70 countries located in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, they are still a family-owned company that can trace their roots back to the Netherlands. In fact, half a million tons of the feed produced by De Heus comes from the mill in the Maasbracht, Netherlands and their aftermarket partnership with ANDRITZ helps keep them running.
When De Heus purchased the mill in Maasbracht in 2013, everything inside had to be replaced. Marcel Jeurissen, the plant manager at this long-established mill located along Julianakanal remembers it well and recalls that it was a stressful and exciting time for De Heus. “The company had just purchased the facility, but even so, it had to be up and running in a very short window of time. The equipment was all very old; everything had to be pulled out, new electrical systems and automation were required, but the ANDRITZ machines were there, and we had it up and running on schedule, April 1st, 2014.”
“The feed industry is unlike any other manufacturing industry. When you make a car or a refrigerator the parts are the same every time, but we are working with natural ingredients – these ingredients are different each time you encounter them. We have to make constant adjustments, and we have to make progress with these ingredients every day. The world depends on a healthy supply of food products, and this originates from quality feed. We can only meet this growing demand by exploring new markets and introducing innovative formulas that help farmers get more eggs from one hen and more meat from one cow.”
“This is our mission; providing tailored solutions for every kind of farmer because no two farms are alike. Say a farmer grows his own wheat, and he wants to utilize that resource; De Heus creates a formula that provides his animals with the nutrition they need from the wheat he grows.”
De Heus currently produces over 700 of these individual formulas with each one running at approximately 15 tons per hour. Their equipment must run longer with less downtime to meet the needs of each individual farm and farm animal.
This is why the ANDRITZ equipment was a must for De Heus. The high capacity motors and the quality construction of their pellet mills, conditioners, and expanders provided an increased range of 20 tons per hour, meaning De Heus could run above capacity while maintaining a high-quality product.
“Running at this capacity makes regular maintenance absolutely necessary to prevent an outage, but when an emergency does happen, ANDRITZ is right there.” Jeurissen shared, “An incident occurred just a few weeks ago – we had a broken shaft bearing. This particular piece of equipment usually takes two weeks to deliver, but we couldn’t wait that long. We called ANDRITZ for a solution, and while we were on the phone with their customer service representative, they located an available engineer.” Jeurissen exclaimed, “He loaded the parts into his vehicle and drove them straight to the plant in the Netherlands. We were up and running again within 24 hours.”
his kind of responsiveness is the main reason why De Heus chose ANDRITZ equipment. “The equipment is good, but their aftermarket service is the best in the industry. We know that if we need a part or an engineer, ANDRITZ will not hesitate to send someone – not just to the Netherlands but from Brazil to Vietnam.”
